1. Who this page is for

These guidelines are for law enforcement and government agencies seeking information about a TrendWarz account, or asking us to preserve content. They are not legal advice, and they do not change or waive any right of TrendWarz or of our users. If you are a member of the public with a safety concern, please use the in-app report tools or contact support@trendwarz.com instead.

2. How to reach us

Send all requests to support@trendwarz.com with the subject line "Law Enforcement Request". Requests must be on official letterhead, sent from an official government email domain, and must include the name, title, agency, badge or ID number, and direct contact details of the requesting officer. TrendWarz is operated from Nairobi, Kenya; we will provide a postal address on request. We do not accept requests by phone or social media.

3. What legal process we require

We disclose user information only where we are legally required to, or where an emergency exception applies. As a general matter we require valid legal process issued under Kenyan law, or a request made through a recognised channel of international cooperation such as a mutual legal assistance treaty or letter rogatory, before we will disclose non-public account information. Requests should be as narrow as possible: identify the specific account by username or account URL, state the specific records sought, and give the relevant time period. Broad or unspecific requests will be refused or returned for narrowing.

4. What information we may hold

Depending on the account, we may hold basic subscriber information (email address, username, account creation date), content the user uploaded, and limited service logs. Retention periods are set out in our Privacy Policy — server logs are typically kept for up to 90 days, so time-sensitive requests should be accompanied by a preservation request. We do not collect precise location data, and we do not hold payment card numbers.

5. Preservation requests

We will honour a valid request to preserve specified account records for 90 days pending service of legal process, and may extend once on request. A preservation request does not itself result in any disclosure. Send preservation requests to the same address, identifying the account precisely and stating the date range to preserve.

6. Emergency requests

If there is an emergency involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury to any person, mark your email subject line "EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST" and describe the nature of the emergency, the person at risk, and why the information sought will help address it. We review such requests as quickly as we can and may disclose information without other legal process where we form a good-faith belief that an emergency requires it. Misuse of the emergency channel for non-urgent matters may result in it being disregarded.

7. Notice to users

Our policy is to notify users about requests for their information before disclosure, so that they may seek to protect their rights, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so, or unless we believe in good faith that notice would create a risk of injury to a person, of destruction of evidence, or of obstruction of an investigation. If a request is accompanied by a court order restraining notice, we will follow that order.

8. Child safety

Content that sexually exploits minors is prohibited absolutely. We remove such content, preserve the related records, and report it to the appropriate authorities. Agencies investigating child-safety matters should say so clearly in the subject line so the request is prioritised.

9. Cost and authenticity

We may seek reimbursement for the costs of responding where the law permits. We reserve the right to verify the authenticity of any request and of the requesting officer before responding, and to object to requests that are overbroad, legally defective, or inconsistent with the rights of our users.
